The Problem
The FX Works is an award-winning wedding photography business operating in and around the city of Bath. With an exceptional reputation for their quality photographs, they’re often the first photographer exclusive venues recommend.
Between May 2020 and October 2020, The FX Works received approximately 340 monthly visitors, but that soon dropped and hovered around 50 visitors a month until we began optimising the website.
The FX Works had many blog posts and too much content on their homepage to keep visitors engaged. In addition, the website was rife with broken links, missing image files, duplicate meta titles and descriptions, and keyword stuffing.

The Solution
Due to the volume of technical errors and warnings, we explained that it’d take us longer to rectify them than design a new website. The FX Works took our advice on board, and within a month, we launched their new website error and warning free. Most importantly, super-fast loading!
Aside from the new website, we spent a great effort on the homepage’s content so that it was effective for visitors and Google. This involved analysing the information shared on the competitors’ websites.
Photography businesses have huge image files because they contain many details about the camera and its settings. Using Photoshop, we stripped back the metadata and optimised it for websites. In addition, we ran it through Lightroom Classic and added location-based data to show where these images were taken in Bath.
Analysing data within Google Analytics and Search Console, we advised The FX Works to implement an exit-intent pop-up form with a special discount to catch the details of visitors, which saw conversions increase.
